We repair laptops, PCs, MacIntosh(Mac) computers in the Minneapolis, MN North Metro
including: Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Coon Rapids, Ham Lake and surrounding cities.
Plug it in: I know it sounds obvious, but it is possible that your cat, foot or some other
unknown act dislodged the power supply. Remember to check both ends of the cord. The part plugged into the computer
and the part plugged into the wall.
Turn it off; wait 30 seconds; turn back on: Again, obvious but realistic. I don’t know how many times my router
has quit working and all it takes is a reboot to get things running again.
Google the error message: Make sure you use exact spelling and it’s a good idea to put the message in quotes so
Google searches for the exact statement. I usually look for recently updated forums or FAQs since they can be less
technical. It never hurts to ask the world of Google, the solution may be simple and free. If the issue is with a
specific program, try searching the manufacturer’s website or if it’s a Microsoft problems there is
Microsoft’s support.
Microsoft Security Essentials:Free virus software
– Yes, you need it and isn’t free awesome!?!
Don't open unexpected attachments: Yes, if you have opened the attachment, it might be too late, but it’s a good
rule of thumb. Even if the email is from a good friend. If they usually don’t send you attachments or the title seems
odd, don’t open it! Refer back to #3. Search the title of the attachment and see what you learn.
